Project Id- ACE008: Baird Jeff Cabin
The Baird Jeff Cabin is a high-density, four-level residential design (Garage + 3 Floors) that optimizes a compact footprint through vertical stacking.
Spatial Configuration
The First Floor (A3) utilizes a rationalized layout to maximize its 1,296 SF footprint:
Open Living Core: An integrated Living (406 SF) and Kitchen (275 SF) zone occupies the southern half, promoting natural light flow.
Private/Service Wing: A 208 SF bedroom and 75 SF bath are positioned for privacy, while the laundry and mechanicals are clustered to minimize plumbing runs.
Central Circulation: A centralized stair tower acts as the building’s spine, reducing hallway waste and linking all four levels.
Verticality & Massing
The structure rises to a peak of 37′ – 7 3/4″, transitioning from a “heavy” masonry base to a “light” timber frame.
Design & Materiality
Aesthetic: Modern minimalist cabin featuring rhythmic fenestration and symmetrical window placement (Types W1, W7, W9) for cross-ventilation.
Structure: 8″ CMU foundation walls support 2×6 exterior stud walls.
External Living: Cantilevered front and rear balconies provide outdoor access on every level without expanding the foundation’s land impact.
Conclusion
The OH139 project is a study in volumetric efficiency. It successfully delivers 1,725 SF of living space on a restricted site, making it an ideal model for steep-slope or small-lot developments where horizontal expansion is unfeasible
