Project ID- ACI001: Open-plan residential interior
This architectural case study analyzes a contemporary open-plan residential interior that merges the kitchen, dining, and living areas into a cohesive, luxurious environment. The design prioritizes materiality, layered lighting, and spatial fluidity.
Design Concept & Spatial Organization
The project adopts a “Zone-Fluid” layout. Rather than using physical walls, the transition between the culinary, dining, and relaxation areas is defined by furniture placement and ceiling treatments.
Living Area: Anchored by a curved, tufted grey sofa, the living zone uses a circular marble coffee table to soften the linear architecture.
Kitchen/Utility: A sleek, white minimalist kitchen serves as a neutral backdrop. The integration of high-end black appliances (refrigerator and oven) provides a sharp visual contrast.
Dining Area: Tucked into a semi-private alcove, the dining space utilizes vertical wood slat paneling to create a “feature wall,” providing a sense of enclosure without losing the open-air feel.
